Case Study: Branston Solar Power Plant
Client: Emeren & PSH Operations
Project: Aerial Documentation – Solar Power Plant
Location: Branston, UK
Project Overview
Drone21 was proud to collaborate with Emeren and PSH Operations to document the construction and operation of the Branston Solar Power Plant, an expansive 180-hectare site dedicated to sustainable energy production. Our role was to provide comprehensive aerial photography and videography to showcase the scale, complexity, and functionality of this impressive facility.
Our Role
To capture the grandeur of the solar power plant, our team conducted multiple site visits, using drones to deliver a range of perspectives. Given the size of the site, we strategically utilized multiple take-off points to ensure every corner of the plant was documented, providing our clients with a dynamic portfolio of images and videos that truly captured the vastness of the project.
Challenges and Solutions
Covering such a large-scale site presented significant logistical and operational challenges. Navigating the 180-hectare area required meticulous planning to ensure full coverage while adhering to safety protocols. Our team employed innovative strategies to capture diverse angles, resulting in stunning aerial footage that highlighted the plant's magnitude and operational efficiency.
One of the major challenges was operating within the RAF Waddington Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ). To ensure safe and compliant aerial operations, we coordinated closely with RAF Waddington and obtained the necessary permissions to fly in the area. Additionally, we maintained real-time communication with Air Traffic Control (ATC) to track airborne traffic during filming, ensuring that all flights were conducted safely and securely.
Results
The collaboration between Drone21, Emeren, and PSH Operations resulted in a remarkable collection of aerial photographs and videos that vividly illustrated the solar power plant’s scale and operational efficiency. These visuals played a critical role in showcasing the plant to stakeholders, offering an insightful view of the facility’s impact on sustainable energy production.
Client Feedback
Emeren and PSH Operations praised our team for the precision, innovation, and safety protocols we brought to the project. They were particularly impressed with our ability to navigate the challenges of such a large site while maintaining high standards of safety and quality in our aerial media.
Conclusion
The Branston Solar Power Plant project exemplifies Drone21’s commitment to delivering exceptional aerial media services for large-scale infrastructure projects. Our ability to balance safety, innovation, and technical skill allows us to consistently exceed expectations. Drone21 is proud to contribute to projects that advance industries and support the shift towards sustainable energy.
